Resurfacing

Resurfacing is the process of applying a thin polymer cement overlay on top of existing concrete to restore and protect the existing concrete.  It can also be used to repair and regrade an existing surface that has settled.  Depending on the design needs, the overlay can be finished like conventional concrete surfaces or enhanced by stamping, staining and scoring, or splatter texturing with or without a pattern.

Stamped Overlays

Stamped concrete overlay systems utilize a mixture of acrylic resins, portland cement, and aggregates specifically designed to resurface existing concrete.  Similar to conventional stamped concrete, a thin overlay, typically 1/4" - 3/8" thick, is applied over the existing concrete which can then be stamped to duplicate the look of natural stone, granite, slate, brick, etc.  Overlays are stronger and more durable than concrete, therefore, taking the worry out of it chipping or separating from the concrete.  Stamped overlays are ideal for interior and exterior applications whether it is residential, commercial, or municipal.  Whatever the application, stamped overlays are available in a large variety of colors and textures to match your needs.

Key Benefits:

  • Low maintenance

  • Variety of colors and patterns to fit any design

  • Excellent adhesion to old or new concrete

  • Stronger and more durable than concrete

  • Chemical resistant

Stained/Scored Overlays

For stained/scored overlays, there are troweled on and self-leveling overlays that can be used.  Troweled overlays typically consists of a primer, scratch or bond coat, and two coats of a micro topping.  The finish of the overlay can be left with a troweled finish or sanded smooth.  Self-leveling overlay systems consist of a primer and a polymer-modified, cementitious-based overlay designed to self level itself.  In either case, after the overlay has cured, the overlay provides a strong, durable surface that can be stained and scored.  The troweled on overlays can be used for interior and exterior.  The self-leveling overlays are for interior use only.  Both products can be used for residential, commercial, or municipal applications.  The overlays are available in white and gray.

Key Benefits:

  • Low maintenance

  • Economical

  • Excellent adhesion to old or new concrete

  • Stronger and more durable than concrete

  • Chemical resistant

Spray-on Overlays

Spray-on overlays are decorative concrete overlay systems that transform plain, old, and unsightly concrete into bold and exciting textured surfaces.  The spray-on systems are specially formulated to create a surface many times more durable than concrete of the same thickness.  When applied, the spray-on overlay has a texture similar to a splatter/drag texture used on walls.  You can add patterns (such as bricks, stones, tiles, et.) to the texture by utilizing stencils with the spray-on overlays  The non-porous surface is easy to maintain and resistant to mildew, staining, thermal shocks, and most chemicals.  In addition, the textured surface provides a non-skid surface that is cool to the touch.  Integral coloring agents can be incorporated into the overlay product to provide a wide variety of colors that are colorfast for years.

Key Benefits:

  • Slip-Resistant

  • Durable, non-porous surface

  • Low maintenance

  • Economical

  • Waterproof

  • Resistant to mildew

  • Cool to the touch

  • Variety of colors to fit any design
